Issue #02 — I got tired of rebuilding the same site four times

Issue #1 said the issues in between the monthly income report would cover tools, workflows, and AI-that-ships-product instead of AI-that-demos-well. This is one of those issues.

The problem I kept hitting
Every time I stood up a new affiliate site — PaddlersPick, BourbonProof, AvailSim, Supapoints — I rebuilt the same foundation from scratch. The affiliate-link registry. The JSON-LD for each page type. The FTC disclosure components. The source-citation tracking. None of it is hard, exactly. It's just the boring connective tissue that eats weeks before a single page of real content goes up.

Four sites in, I was done rebuilding it a fifth time.

What I actually did about it
I extracted it. What used to be scattered across four repos is now one config file, six page templates, and the AI-search and agentic-coding plumbing already wired in — and I packaged it as Start & Ship, live today at startandship.com.

The short version of what's in it:

• Six money-page templates — roundup, single review, comparison, gift guide, price-tier ladder, editorial. The page shapes that actually earn.

• An AI-surface layer — JSON-LD, llms.txt + llms-full.txt, schema validation. The part that makes a site legible to ChatGPT and Claude, not just Google.

• An agentic coding layer — CLAUDE.md, Claude Code skills, typed guardrails. The kit's own repo is built the same way it teaches you to build with it — I used Claude Code for most of it, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

No income promises anywhere on the site — I make zero projections, same rule as everywhere else I write. If you want to see the actual templates before taking my word for any of it, demo.startandship.com runs the kit's own sample content live.

I'm deliberately not putting a dollar figure on this one here. It launched today. Whatever it does or doesn't do, you'll get it straight in a future income report, once there's an actual month of data behind it instead of a launch-day number that means nothing yet.

What I'm actually using right now
Quick, honest rundown of the tools that mattered this cycle:

• Polar — new to me this cycle, as merchant of record for Start & Ship. Handles checkout and tax, and automatically grants GitHub repo access the moment payment clears — no manual fulfillment step on my end. Worth knowing about if you're selling anything code-shaped.

• Claude Code — did most of the actual building, including the agentic layer that ships inside the kit itself. Meta, but real: an agent building the thing that helps other people's agents build.

• Vercel — where the demo and the landing page both live. I'm on the $20/month Pro tier, mostly because it hosts my whole portfolio under one account, not because any single site needed it. A brand-new site can usually start on Hobby just fine — though Vercel's terms technically call for Pro once something's commercial, worth knowing even if enforcement at that scale is rare.

What comes next
Next issue is back to the monthly format: the full July income report, every stream, no omissions — including whatever Start & Ship's launch week actually did, once it's a real number instead of a day-one guess.
